I just don't understand how to calculate the correct adjustment for the actuator rod; using a tape measure does not work. Code P029900 on a 2017 C43 AMG Turbo 1 (passenger side on left hand drive vehicles) I know you are supposed to use a vacuum gun, but I do not know what to do with it to adjust the rods. My next guess is to just tighten or loosen the nut until it moves at the same speed the other turbo does. Any ideas or thoughts?

Most valves are made from blanks that are forged into the near final product. The divot is a little offset because of this and does not affect its performance nor its durability. As a cylinder head tech, I see this a lot and I have never been concerned. Speaking of valves, before I disassemble a head, I use an engraver to mark my valves so the go back to their original positions. I used to punch numbers into them, but I ruined an entire set of exhaust valves on a "Hummer" H3 when I went to grind them and noticed they were all cracked almost completely around the valves head originating from the punch mark. Oops.

Hi Tasos This happened to me yesterday while driving my Giulietta QV 1.8Tbi direct injection. The car started to misfire on cylinder 3. I took all the spak plugs out to find out the no.3 spark plug tip had disintegrated and part of the electrode was melted and missing. Put a new spark plug in but unfortunately the engine still running on only 3 cylinders. 😢😢😢 The car is not tuned...all original and well serviced. The plugs are original and only 10.000 km old. At idle when running normal my boost gauge used to show a vacuum of -0.7 bar but now it's showing only -0.4 I guess im screwed😢 What could be the causes and what are the possible damages?

I cannot get over your EXTREME attention to the smallest of detail and your unbelievable knowledge with these engines. The way you point out imprints on the surfaces and are so knowledgable that they won't affect the integrity of the sealing surface is mind blowing. That guy from Tennessee, USA is going to have a permanant smile on his face that only surgery will be able to remove once he gets this absolute gem back from YOU. wow................😮😮😁 BTW, those Darton sleeves are so much GOODNESS!!!!!!😍😍😍😍😍

My autism sufferers badly for seeing that off centric valve pocket. Does my C43 have the same thing? Do I need to take the heads off and look. It's really bugging me now. Having built fast engines and cylinder heads for racing motorcycles that kind of "flaw" is very irritating. Do the valves even weigh the same? I know it's meaningless but it's not perfect. And the engineer in me is screaming.

Another video I love. I love it when you glance at a part and see all kinds of imperfections from the engineering to the production of the part. It was so obvious when you spun the valve.

You think its the rings moving causing them to bite on the cylinder wall? I heard it was over 70k to 90k mile engine injector wear/carboning so it bore wash that cylinder wall of oil or bent rod..... 2016 m278 and some 2015 are meant to have the steel bore and they claim this issue doesnt happen. Another words MB knew about this and change the bore material to try stop it. End of the day this bore material didnt work good for m157 and m278 for probably multiple reasons.

Great video and explanation. I have driven cars with both engines and always liked the 5.5 sound and feel and found the 4.0 to be abit muted and less " old school " V8 feel when they came out at the time but it is better for sure, not just about fuel consumption. Closed deck and cylinder wall material is huge for durability.
